the north face of el chaltén (aka fitz roy) as seen from paso superior. the size of what you are looking at is beyond comprehension. two american climbers returned to paso superior (base camp) while i was there and told me that from the "v" notch at the bottom to the top of the first peak to the left was 20 ropes. a rope is 150 feet. from the "v" nothc to the top left corner of the photo is about 5,000 feet, almost a vertical mile!
